our story

During a friendly meeting at "Athen's Market" in downtown San Diego,  lawyers on both sides of the US/Mexico border met and conceived the idea of a regional and binational association. 

In December of 2004 the “Binational Lawyers Association” was created as an unincorporated association (known in Mexico as Asociación Binacional de Abogados).

  The purpose of the association was to forge long-lasting friendships between reputable lawyers and establish a mechanism that would facilitate mutual help in cases dealing with cross-border legal issues.  

On November 15, 2012 the founding members (today the binational board of directors) chartered the association and formally changed its name to Binational Bar Association or BBA.
